ENV 4386 FALL 2026: Remote Sensing

ENV 4386 / GEO 4386 provides an introduction to the theory and practice of remote sensing for environmental analysis. Drawing on Emilio Chuvieco’s text, the course explores the physical principles governing electromagnetic radiation and its interaction with surface and atmospheric materials, as well as the sensors and platforms used to measure these interactions. Students examine how remotely sensed data are applied across earth science, ecology, meteorology, and environmental science to monitor landscapes, evaluate change over time, and support environmental decision-making.
